How to teach sustainability and climate change in schools

What is progress? What is the cost of development? What is quality of life? Why is the idea of sustainable development criticized? Think about the aspects of sustainable development.

Participants will be made aware of the climate change problem in a fun and accessible way, get a comprehensive overview of this major problem, and learn how to act effectively.

In the introductory lecture, we will deal with the definition and the goals of sustainable development and the goals of sustainable development, consider the relationship between sustainability and the population of the future, and the fair distribution of social goods.

Climate collage consists of several stages:

  • discovering and establishing a connection between the cards and arranging collages together
  • adoption of collages and collectivejoint illustration,
  • sharing of lessons learned , and summar presentation and conversation
  • well intentioned sharing of emotions, attitudes, issues and solutions

In this part of the training we will focus on sustainable development strategies and

briefly introduce the workshop participants to the following topics:

  • individual responsibility
  • ecosystem services as a method of sustainable development
  • green economy
  • business strategies
  • sustainable cities
  • circular economy

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • get acquainted with the definition of sustainable development, sustainability, and the goals of sustainable development.
  • raise awareness and deepen the understanding of all sustainability related issues.
  • critically consider possible solutions and ways of action aimed at sustainability, harmonize behavior in everyday life and think about skills and characteristics that contribute to the development of a just society.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAMM:

DAY 1 SUNDAY

  • Participants arrival
  • Meeting in a hotel
  • Practical information about the city, currency, etc.
  • Walk through city center

Day 2 MONDAY

Icebreaker - getting to know the participants, expectations

Introduction to Sustainability - interactive lecture we deal with the definition of sustainable development and the goals of sustainable development.

Sustainable development goals and sustainable solutions - interactive lecture - study the key goals of sustainable development, understand and explain the world's most important problems (poverty and inequality, ecosystem degradation, climate change ...)

Day 3 TUESDAY

Climate collage- workshop

Climate collage consists of several phases:

  • discovering and establishing a connection between the cards and arranging collages together
  • adoption of collages and joint illustration,
  • sharing of lessons learned , and summar presentation and conversation
  • well intentioned sharing of emotions, attitudes, issues and solutions

Day 4 WEDNESDAY

Sustainable Development Strategies - lectures and workshops and presentation of ideas for their communities

Topics:

  • Individual responsibility
  • Ecosystem services as a method of sustainable development
  • Green economy and business strategies

Day 5 THURSDAY

Sustainable Development Strategies - lectures and workshops and presentation of ideas for their communities

Topics:

  • Sustainable cities
  • Circular economy

Day 6 FRIDAY

How to teach sustainability in schools - project teaching? - lecture and workshop

Participants will develop their small projects in groups that they can implement in the communities they come from.
